Boosting EU Trade with South East Asia

The Brussels-based think-tank led by Tomasz Poreba MEP, New Direction – The Foundation for European Reform, will present its latest report on EU trade relations with South East Asia on Tuesday.

Over the next 20 years, 90% of global growth is expected to come from outside Europe. Therefore, it is vital to leverage the power of the EU’s single market with 500 million consumers to secure bold, ambitious trade deals with these fastest growing economies.

In this strategically important report of New Direction, leading expert Dr Matthias Bauer, a Senior Economist at European Centre for International Political Economy (ECIPE), casts a spotlight onto the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) region.

New Direction Secretary-General, Dr Ian Duncan MEP emphasizes:

As a potential market of more than 600 million individuals such a EU trade agreement with South East Asia has the potential to drive economic growth both in Europe and in Asia. The latest New Direction report is not just an academic exercise, however, instead it sets out a serious of important recommendations that can make such trade link a reality.

Tomasz Poreba MEP invites you to the launch of this report on the 15 March 2016 in the Renaissance Hotel Brussels. Please register online at www.europeanreform.org. New Direction is a free market, euro-realist think-tank and publisher, established in 2010 under the patronage of Baroness Thatcher.
