In Scottland a new conservative opposition has emerged in the shape of Ruth Davidson’s Tories: while the Scottish National Party and the Labour Party lost 19 seats overall, the Conservative Party surged into second place with an extraordinary 16 gains.
Ms Davidson scored the biggest upset of the night, winning Edinburgh Central. She became the main opposition party leader at Holyrood. The AECR congratulates her on this historic result. A great success for Scottish Toryism!
